Frazier Park residents anxious for influx of visitors chasing fun in the snow


Snow in Kern County is on the horizon, and locals in Frazier Park are preparing for an influx of visitors from out of town, flocking to enjoy the snow.

Justin Geike grew up in Frazier Park and said Friday that when the snow comes, visitors follow and often leave trash behind.

Mike Richards has been living in Frazier Park since 1978, and he is learning how to improvise with the visitors causing a lot of traffic.

"We get a lot of people during the snow if it snow's deep enough," he said. "Sometimes there is a lot of traffic, so you plan extra time so you can get home."

Richards said another concern for locals are the people visiting sometime get a little turned around and wind up on private property.

"We had somebody from the city, come in and walk through our yard, and took our sled and started sliding down the street with it, and we were like, 'OK, what do we do now?'" said Richards.
