A Tulare County jury convicted 39-year-old Macario Cerda of Fresno of the kidnapping and rape of a child under the age of 14.

Cerda was convicted of three counts of forcible rape, one count of kidnapping to commit rape, one count of criminal threats, and seven counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of fourteen.

Each count is a felony.

The crimes happened on February 26, 2013.

Cerda was in a relationship with the child's mother in Woodlake when the crimes happened on February 26, 2013.

Cerda forced the girl into a van and drove her to a remote location in the county where he forcibly raped her, threatening he would hurt her and her family.

The mother called her daughter during the attack and heard yelling, so she called the police.

After the rape, Cerda called and said he would not return the child until the police were gone.

He stepped out of the van for a minute and the girl jumped into the driver's seat and drove away.

Cerda was arrested by Tulare County sheriff's deputies the next day.

During the investigation, the victim told detectives she had been raped as a minor since 2010 and had gotten pregnant once.

It was also learned her your sister was raped by Cerda starting in 2009.

Cerda faces 400 years-to life in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 16, 2019.
