Garden Pathways and Dignity Health have announced a homeless outreach and intervention program in south Bakersfield to identify the risks and needs within the area.

The Homeless Outreach and Intervention Pilot will target the area surrounding Chester Avenue, Golden State Highway and Union Avenue.

The results of the program will build on work done by the 2013 34th Street Neighborhood Transformation Project and inform an outreach team that services to coordinate for homeless individuals and families.

Those services range from medical and mental health screenings to enrollment in health insurance and aftercare, along with access to many other resources.

Dignity Health will provide $100,000 to support the program that will be managed through Garden Pathways

A press conference will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Weill Park to kick off the partnership.
