Gary Sinise Foundation building special home for wounded Bakersfield veteran
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Gary Sinise Foundation hosted a Walls of Honor event Thursday in Bakersfield for a retired Marine Corps corporal.
The actor's foundation builds specially designed homes for severely wounded veterans and first responders. The homes are designed with these heroes' disabilities in mind.
Retired Marine Joshua Brubaker, of Bakersfield, lost his legs from an improvised explosive device while serving in Afghanistan.
The Walls of Honor event featured veterans, community leaders, family and friends writing inspirational and personal messages of gratitude on the walls of Brubaker's new specially adapted home.
