MCFARLAND, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A grass fire burned 550 acres near McFarland early Wednesday morning.

The fire started just before 1:30 a.m. near Highway 65 and Sherwood Avenue. It took Kern County firefighters about two hours to fully contain it.

Firefighters were able to keep it from spreading into a nearby neighborhood.
