Bakersfield, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A girl and young man were hit and killed by a car, when they were walking on the sidewalk Wednesday, down Panama Lane near South H Street.
According to police, on December 9, 2021 at 1:16 p.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of Panama Lane regarding a major injury collision involving a vehicle versus two pedestrians. The pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene.

A family member reached out to Eyewitness News and shared the names of those killed as 19-year-old J.J. and 10-year-old Caylee.
BPD said a 10-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man were hit and killed by 46-year-old Lisa Core. She's accused of being under the influence of controlled substances when she hit J.J. and Caylee.

"Greenfield Union School District is saddened by the tragic loss of Granite Pointe student, Caylee Brown. Caylee was a 5th-grade student who was described as soft-spoken and reserved, yet very bright and intelligent. The district has grief counselors and other support staff available for students, staff, and parents. These services will be available this week and next week as needed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Caylee's family during this difficult time. "
