KCFD: More than 50 animals killed in fire near Arvin

    Kern County firefighters said around 50 animals were killed in a fire that broke out at a property near Arvin.

    The fire began around 12:30 p.m. near Bear Mountain Boulevard and Comanche Road.

    Firefighters worked quickly to get the surviving animals from their corrals and into a safe area and put out the fire.

    Firefighters said weather conditions helped cause the fire to spread quickly.

    Firefighters said horses, cattle, goats and chickens were killed in the fire.

    No human injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
