KCSO: Car submerged in Kern River could be connected to missing woman

FILE -- Lisa Harvey, who was last seen April 29, 2017, traveling from Tulare County to the Bodfish area in Kern County, Calif., is seen in a photo provided May 3 by the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Kern County deputies have located a submerged vehicle in the Kern River that they think could be related to a missing woman.

Lisa Harvey, who is from the Ventura area, was en route to Bodfish in April when she disappeared.

The Sheriff's Office said it was alerted to the vehicle in the river late Thursday night but couldn't begin the recovery effort because of the darkness and the needed manpower.

The recovery effort has been scheduled for Saturday morning and will require some closures along Highway 178 in the Kern River canyon. The westbound lane will be closed at 9 a.m., and both directions will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to about 1 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.
