A man was caught and arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun at a patrol car during a pursuit.

Carlos Gomez, 24, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and gang participation.

A deputy suffered minor injuries, but the Kern County Sheriff's Office didn't specify how or in what way the deputy was injured.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies tried to pull over a car late Tuesday night at South Chester and Ming avenues. The driver didn't stop, and the chase ensued.

During the chase, Gomez allegedly fired multiple rounds from a shotgun. Gomez then abandoned the car and took off on foot in the area of Gary Place and Burchfield Avenue, near South Union Avenue and Fairview Road, but was apprehended without further incident.

A shotgun was recovered at the scene.
