The Kern County Sheriff's Office says one man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Friday evening at Golden West Casino in Bakersfield.

The Sheriff's Office said the casino has been secured, and there's not an ongoing threat.

A person of interest who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was found and detained across the street from the casino.

A witness said the other person who was shot was a security guard. The Sheriff's Office hasn't confirmed that.

A lieutenant with the Sheriff's Office said the shooting took place just outside the entrance to the casino, and that's where one of the men was found dead.

The lieutenant said he couldn't speak to what sparked the shooting.

Other people suffered injuries trying to run away or seek cover during the chaotic scene. More than 100 people were in the casino at the time, according to the Sheriff's Office.
