Football is sometimes known as a man's game, but a local group of mothers and wives is changing that.

Meet the all-female Kern County Crusaders.

Team members range in age from 18 to 49, taking in everyone no matter their football experience.

The team is part of the Women's Football Alliance, the biggest women's tackle football organization in the country.

For players, the game means more than just winning.

"To hear somebody say, 'Hey, you're doing a good job,' or, 'Come on, you can do this,' it's just really encouraging for me," said player Marleen Patt. "That's why I come out here."

To sign up, head to for more information or check out the team's Facebook page. There is a fee to play.
