Kern County Sheriff's Office SWAT standoff in Lake Isabella

In this picture taken Wednesday June 20, 2018 Kern County Sheriff's Office responds to a reported missing person who is barricaded in a home with a suspect with an outstanding warrant in Lake Isabella, Calif.

UPDATE: Deputies were able to see inside the home before entering and found the suspect as 56-year-old Oneil Smith had hung himself.

Deputies entered the home at 1:45 a.m. and confirmed Smith was dead.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.


BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - Kern County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called out to a home in Lake Isabella Wednesday night after deputies received a report of a missing person at the home.

Deputies say a missing woman was reported to be in the house along with an old boyfriend who had an outstanding warrant.

According to officials two people were in the home on Hall Court in Lake Isabella at 6:20 p.m. when deputies arrived.

The suspect boyfriend made bomb threats deputies say, however they were able to retrieve the missing woman from the home.
