Kern County Superior Court announced its first Muslim judge ever appointed, Friday.

Gregory A. Pulskamp, 49, will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William D. Palmer.

Pulskamp served as a supervising deputy district attorney at the Kern County District Attorney’s Office since 2014, and served at the DA's office as a deputy district attorney since 1996.

The newly appointed judge earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College.
