Kern deputies to host annual Veterans Day breakfast

The Kern Law Enforcement Association invites the community to attend the annual Veterans Day breakfast.

The breakfast will take place on Saturday at the American Legion Hall, Post 26. Volunteers will begin serving food at 6 a.m. and will serve until food runs out or until the start of the Veterans Day Parade, which is 10 a.m.

Volunteers will cook up pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage, as well as serve juice and coffee. Attending veterans will be able to eat free, and guests who weren't in the military are encouraged to donate $5.

"We are honored to have the opportunity to serve our veterans at the annual Veterans Day Breakfast," David Kessler, KLEA president, said in a news release. "It's really the least we could do to thank them for their service to our nation."

KLEA purchases all of the food for this event, and deputies and their families volunteer to prepare and serve the meals.
