Kern fair addresses death of Troy Gentry, plans for replacing Montgomery Gentry concert

Troy Gentry of country duo Montgomery Gentry died Friday in a helicopter crash in New Jersey.

Montgomery Gentry was scheduled to perform Sept. 28 at the Kern County Fair as part of the series of nightly concerts included with admission.

Fair officials released a statement on the death of Gentry and said they'll announce plans for the Sept. 28 concert at a later time.

"The Kern County Fair is saddened by the news of the passing of Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry. We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family and many country fans. With this difficult news, we will have more information regarding the scheduled September 28th performance at the 2017 Kern County Fair next week as more information becomes available."
