Kern Regional Center could soon close its doors.

Workers rallied against KRC mangers Tuesday following an announcement of drastic measures, including closing the facility for the developmentally disabled of Kern, Inyo and Mono counties.

"Managers have created this crisis through years of mismanagement, fraud, and excessive spending. This includes dramatically increasing pay for executive managers and high priced consultants and making poor financial choices that don't prioritize resources for services and staffing to directly support clients," said Corrine Rojo, Kern Regional Center chapter president in a news release.

Workers are also calling for more transparency from management.

Workers claim the management's decision will put vulnerable members of our community at risk and is an attack on workers’ livelihoods.
