Local prosthetics company honored for service to veterans

The Valley Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics received the 2017 Orthotic and Prosthetic Group of America Freedom Award.

The local facility is being honored for "their compassionate service and dedication to veterans and active-duty soldiers."

The Freedom Award recognizes OPGA members that have provided orthotic and prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation for soldiers wounded in action.

"It's a passion of ours to serve our veterans that go and serve us so well, keep us free, and allow us to even do what we do," said Kirby Miller, practitioner at the Valley Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics. "It's a passion for us when they get wounded to be able to get them back on their feet and moving, and being productive."
