Man arrested after three-year-old accidently shoots self
BAKERSFIELD, Calif., (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police arrested a man for child endangerment after a three-year-old accidently shot themselves on Friday night.
Officers said they were called to a home around 6 p.m. on the 1000 block of P Street for a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a three-year-old boy had been taken to a hospital by family members for a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Further investigation found the handgun had been left in an easily accessible position and the juvenile found the handgun before accidently discharging the firearm.
The father was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, failing to properly secure the firearm, and child endangerment.
