BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A man was convicted Tuesday for a double murder in Delano.

Carlos Cervantes shot Jeffrey Villegas and Jose Ceja Pacheco in 2016.

At the time, police attributed the motive to jealousy.

"Mr. Villegas and Mr. Cervantes had a business arrangement and Mr. Cervantes felt that he wasn't paid fairly," Detective Larcellus Scott said.

The Kern County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that Cervantes faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

The DA said Cervantes tried to leave the courtroom after the verdict was read and had to be forcibly stopped by deputies.
