A man was sentenced Tuesday to 14 years in prison for a DUI crash that killed his wife.

Jose Alfredo Garcia and his wife, Rosa Maria Trejo, were on their way home to McFarland from Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville. The two were about 10 miles away from their house when Garcia crashed his Lexus into a pole near Cecil Avenue in Delano.

He was high on either methadone or heroin, according to California Highway Patrol reports from the time.

Garcia was arrested in 2016. This June, he pleaded no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
