BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – M.A.R.E Therapeutic Riding Center is hoping the community can bring Christmas joy to its horses.

The public is encouraged to come to the riding center this week and fill the horses’ stockings with carrots or gifts.

Patrons can also purchase an ornament to help with the nonprofit’s mission.

M.A.R.E. stands for “mastering abilities riding equines,” and the center’s aim is to allow special needs children and adults “to experience freedom of movement, freedom of spirit, and freedom from judgment,” according to its website.
