BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Fire Department said they received a call for heavy black smoke in the 7000 block of Trotter Avenue Saturday around 2 p.m.
Responding units arrived on scene and found multiple cement trucks and tires fully engulfed in flames and exploding.
Backup crews were called in and the blaze was controlled in about an hour. High winds driving the fire caused an estimated $700,000 in damage.
Fire crews will remain on scene for a few hours to clean up.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
California City Fire, California Highway Patrol and the Kern County Sheriff's Office helped extinguish the fire.
