BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- Two pedestrians were hit by a trailer that came loose from a pickup Wednesday at Wible Road and White Lane.

Police Sgt. Ryan Kroeker said the trailer came disconnected from the truck, which was northbound on Wible approaching the intersection.

One of the pedestrians died from the impact, while the other suffered moderate injuries.

The trailer continued into the intersection, where it hit a car. That started a chain-reaction crash involving two other vehicles.

Kroeker said the people in the cars suffered minor injuries.
