BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – The name was released Monday for the man fatally shot last week in an encounter with two California Highway Patrol officers.

Aaron Allen Przkeop, 25, of Lancaster, was shot early Friday morning at Interstate 5 and Enos Lane, on the western outskirts of Bakersfield.

The CHP officers responded shortly before 5 a.m. to the area because of a single-car crash, according to Kern County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Angela Monroe. The Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency for the officer-involved shooting.

Monroe said the man – now identified as Przkeop – claimed to have a gun, approached the officers with a hand concealed, and did not comply with the officers’ orders.

She didn’t say if both CHP officers on scene fired their guns. Neither officer was injured.

The Sheriff’s Office thus far hasn’t said whether the man actually had a gun.
