Name released for man shot, killed in south Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – The Kern County coroner on Monday released the name of a man who was shot over the weekend in south Bakersfield.

Edgar Eduardo Barajas Ruiz, 34, was shot Saturday night on Stargaze Drive, near Berkshire Road and Monitor Street.

Officers found him lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not provided any suspect information. Officers believe he was involved in an altercation earlier in the evening.
