Nevada corrections officer suspected of killing Bakersfield woman found dead from suicide
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – The Nevada Department of Corrections officer suspected of killing his former girlfriend from Bakersfield has been found dead from apparent suicide.
Christopher Caggiano, 41, was wanted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the shooting of 32-year-old Cheri Anaya, of Bakersfield.
The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho told KSNV TV in Las Vegas that Caggiano was found dead inside a vehicle outside a bar in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Sheriff's Office said.
Caggiano had been a state corrections officer since 2014.
Anaya’s body was found last weekend by her children. The victim’s 9-year-old daughter called police.
