Smart911 program personalizes emergency response in Kern County
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and local law enforcement have joined to release the new Smart911 system locally, which allows people to create profiles with personal information that can be accessed by emergency responders.
Users may highlight special needs, such as medications or language obstacles. The program also allows participants to include pictures and information on pets and family members.
Roger Perez with Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services said the program will help emergency personnel respond to emergencies more effectively.
Monday, the new enhanced 911 system will be in use for emergency calls throughout Kern County.
