BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A small plane crash near Kern Valley Airport left the airport closed Sunday morning.
Witnesses say the plane was taking off when it caught fire just as it left the ground.
The pilot and the passenger were able to make it out of the plane and were uninjured.
The pilot was the owner of the plane, according to witnesses.
There has been no official word as to what caused the crash.
The airport will remain closed with no estimated time on when it will be reopened.
