Former star football player dies following officer-involved shooting in Tulare

UPDATE: A 27-year-old man has died following an officer-involved shooting, Tulare law enforcement officials said.

The man has been identified as 27-year-old Jontell Reedom, of Tulare.

The Visalia Times-Delta newspaper reports Reedom was a former star running back for Tulare Union High School.

The shooting remains under investigation.

TULARE, Calif. (FOX26) -- Tulare law enforcement officials are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Officers said they were after a man accused of assaulting a bus driver in the area near Cross Avenue and Cherry Street on Monday afternoon.

A video of the incident shows the man running and fighting with officers. The video loses focus, but multiple gunshots can be heard.

It's not clear in the video who fired the shots, but the man was hit.

Both officers are OK and were placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
