Outlets at Tejon to host Twitter-controlled holiday tree in support of local charities
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
For the second year in a row, The Outlets at Tejon will celebrate the holiday season and its support of local charities with a Twitter-controlled holiday tree.
A tree lighting ceremony will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday and will include an appearance by Santa and performance from the Delano High School choir.
The Twitter-controlled holiday tree, named the O'Twitter Tree, will be operated exclusively through Twitter hashtags.
Local charities, including CASA, Marley's Mutts and Wounded Heroes Fund, have been assigned a hashtag that corresponds to the O'Twitter Tree. When shoppers tweet to the official Outlets at Tejon Twitter account with the Outlet's hashtag or the designated charity's hashtags, the individual group's specific color will illuminate.
Each charity will compete to have the O'Twitter Tree lit in their designated color for the longest amount of time from Friday evening to Sunday evening. The winning charity will receive a donation from the Outlets.
