Pedestrian injured in south Bakersfield collision

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle in south Bakersfield.

The collision happened about 1 p.m. on South Union Avenue near Adams Street.

A pedestrian was crossing the roadway with a stroller when a car traveling south on Union hit the pedestrian, according to the California Highway Patrol. There was nothing in the stroller.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The driver did not appear to be under the influence, however officers have not ruled out alcohol or drug use on the part of the pedestrian.
