A man who worked for a trucking company was crushed and killed by a trailer Thursday north of Arvin.

"The individual was trapped between the trailer and the dumping part of the trailer," Kern County Fire Department Capt. Jason Knaggs said.

The incident will be investigated by Cal/OSHA.

It took place at Di Giorgio and Malaga roads on Tasteful Selections property. However, officials said the the man didn't work for the food company.

"I was told the employee is with the trucking company and not employed by the food processing places in the area," Knaggs said.

The truck is marked with Edison Freight Inc., but authorities on scene wouldn't confirm his employer. They would only say that he was employed by a trucking company.

Knaggs said the man was freed by the time firefighters arrived, but he died from his injuries.

A representative for Tasteful Selections said at this time the company has no comment.

Eyewitness News reached out to Edison Freight Inc. At this time we are waiting to hear back.

The identity of the man will be released by the coroner's office.
