Police searching for pair suspected of posing as Starbucks employees to steal $4K
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Bakersfield Police Department needs help in identifying a man and woman who allegedly posed as Starbucks corporate employees to steal about $4,000.
In August, an employee at a Starbucks in central Bakersfield got a call from a man who posed as an employee from the corporate office. The man on the phone reportedly said their business was under investigation for depositing counterfeit money.
The real employee was told to do a new deposit so a person from the corporate office could collect it. A woman later entered the store and told the employee she was from the corporate office. She got away with a $4,000 deposit.
Police said this was a scam.
A surveillance photo of the woman was released Thursday. Anyone who can provide information helpful to the investigation is asked to call Detective Timothy Diaz at (661) 326-3921.
