Car crashes into a power pole, knocking out power in south Bakersfield

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. says a vehicle crashed into a power pole early Thursday morning, knocking out electricity for customers near South High School.

The crash near Sandra Drive and Planz Road caused more than 3,300 customers to lose power. As of 8:40 a.m., that number was down to fewer than 140. But, full restoration wasn't expected until 3 p.m.

Police said the driver suffered minor injuries.
