Power outages affect customers in east, NE Bakersfield

UPDATE (7:36 a.m., Monday, Jan. 14): A PG&E spokeswoman said the outages are weather-related.

Eyewitness News meteorologist Miles Muzio said a wind advisory has been issued for the area. He said gusts of 35-50 mph will persist through midday.


BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A pair of large power outages are affecting Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers in Bakersfield.

Combined, the outages have left more than 3,800 customers in the dark, as of around 7:15 a.m.

The largest outage is affecting a swath near Hart Park.

The other is between College Avenue and Edison Highway. It’s affecting a large area of east Bakersfield, including parts of Fairfax Road, Niles Street and Pioneer Drive.

PG&E hasn’t said what caused either outage.
