Public to view Centennial Corridor options

Plans for the Centennial Corridor project have been narrowed to six options that will be presented to the public Thursday.

The project would give Bakersfield an east-west freeway through the city, connecting Highway 58 to the new Westside Parkway and eventually to Interstate 5.

There are four possible routes for the Centennial Corridor, each with different starting points:

-- Alternative A would connect to the Westside Parkway beginning between Mohawk Street and Coffee Road;

-- Alternative B would connect to Westside Parkway beginning at Mohawk Street;

-- Alternative C starts by paralleling Highway 99; and

-- Alternative D starts aligned with Union Avenue.

An option still on the table is to not build the Centennial Corridor at all.

The options will be presented to the public at 4:30 p.m. at 1115 Truxtun Ave.
