Second annual Night to Shine
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
It was a night to feel like kings and queens.
On Friday night, thousands of guests with special needs from around the world were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime prom experience across the country, thanks to former football player Tim Tebow and his Night to Shine Ministry.
For a second year, CrossRoads Christian Fellowship held the Night to Shine in Bakersfield.
From a red-carpet entrance and photos to karaoke and a groovy dance floor, it was extraordinary. It's a prom night most special needs people rarely get to see.
“I think it’s an overlooked community a lot of times and people with special needs are awesome,” volunteer Brian Conlee said. “You know, God created them the way he did for a reason and it’s like, let’s celebrate them and have a good time.”
Hundreds of people, ranging in age from 14 to 72, attended the Bakersfield party.
The event was put on by volunteers working with the Tim Tebow Foundation.
