Segment of bike/walking trail along Truxtun Avenue closed
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Due to construction on the Westside Parkway, the bike path along Truxtun Avenue between Commercial Way and Empire Drive will be closed from Monday through Friday. This is an around-the-clock closure.
Bicyclists and pedestrian traffic along that part of the Kern River Parkway Multi-Use Trail will be detoured to the south side sidewalk of Truxtun Avenue, according to a news release from the Thomas Road Improvement Program.
Drivers on the Westside Parkway will see shoulder closures during daytime hours for the next month between Truxtun Avenue and Mohawk Street. The shoulders will be closed for lighting, sign illumination and fiber optic work.
There may also be nighttime closures on Truxtun Avenue around the Westside Parkway on- and off-ramps between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
When closures are needed, the Westside Parkway eastbound off-ramp will also be closed, but the westbound on-ramp will remain open.
