Film crews descended Wednesday on Taft, and for hours no one really quite knew what was happening. The rumors, however, were certainly flying around.

Crew members, including a second assistant director, told Eyewitness News that it was just a product commercial shoot. However, others were told other things.

Justin Bieber. Justin Timberlake. Alicia Keys. A Wells Fargo commercial. There was no shortage of chatter and speculation.

The set was closed off to media, but a person allowed to watch sent a message to Eyewitness News stating in part, "It's (The Weeknd) for sure! … I'm Sitting (sic) here watching it."

The person went on to say crews instructed her not to have her phone out and threatened to take away her phone if they thought she was taking photos or videos.

However, no one took The Weeknd's phone away, and he posted on his Instagram story a video of him that appears to be in Taft's Fox Theater.
