BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – The trial is underway for a man accused of killing a fellow corrections officer.

Rigoberto Sanchez faces five charges, including murder and attempted murder.

Opening statements were held Thursday.

Sanchez is accused of shooting 31-year-old Edwin Lima, who also worked at the prison in Tehachapi.
