Two charged on allegation of human trafficking in court Thursday

    Two people were arraigned on human trafficking charges on Thursday afternoon in Kern County Superior Court.

    Carlos Abreu, 57, and Sharon Cruz, 18, both entered not-guilty pleas at their arraignments.

    They were arrested Tuesday afternoon in a home on the 3400 block of Dartmouth Avenue after Bakersfield police officers served a search warrant.

    During the investigation, two female juveniles were found and determined to be victims of human sex trafficking.

    Cruz and Abreu were charged with allegedly pandering a minor over 16 and keeping/living in a house of ill fame; Abreu was also charged on allegations of pimping.
