BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – Video captured a woman dragging a dog behind a Bird electric scooter in central Bakersfield.
The video was captured by James Dowell’s home security cameras. He said the incident took place Sunday afternoon on A Street between 19th and 20th streets.
Another man posted on Facebook that he encountered the woman while riding bikes. That man, Brandon Sanders, said the dog was bloody and had been dragged by a leash for at least 100 yards at about 15 mph.
“I know this event touched a lot of people including myself and although I don’t like to post things of this nature, I felt that this type of behavior needed to be posted to at a MINIMUM, at least bring awareness to others about these types of actions,” Sanders posted.
Sanders said he reported the incident to police.
Police Sgt. Brian Holcombe told Eyewitness News that they’ve taken a report but haven’t yet spoken with the woman seen in the video.
