Wasco woman killed in crash near Lost Hills

UPDATE: The Kern County coroner's office on Monday, Nov. 28, identified the woman killed in this crash as 20-year-old Karina Lopez Ramirez.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A woman is dead after a crash early Sunday morning on Highway 46, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP says the 20-year-old woman was hit head-on when another driver drifted into her lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, 53-year-old David Hughes, of Atascadero, sustained major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in this crash, which is still under investigation, according to the CHP.
