A woman will likely serve a year in prison after a child in her care died last summer.

Celena Duarte Martinez had eight years of her sentence suspended Thursday. She previously pleaded no contest to two counts of willful cruelty to a child.

Abel Omar Godinez, 11 months old, died after being found facedown in an overflowing bathtub at a Motel 6. Abel's twin, who was also left unattended in the tub, was OK.

Court documents showed Martinez told police that she and the uncle were watching the children while the mother was away. The children messed on themselves, so Martinez put them in the tub, turned on the water, went into the other room and fell asleep.

The document shows the children were found in the overflowing tub by a friend of the mother, while Martinez and the uncle slept.
