Deer Fire threatens 300 structures in Bear Valley Springs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - According to the Kern County Fire Department, the Deer Fire reached 1,800 acres Saturday morning at 0-percent containment.

The fire is threatening 300 structures, and evacuations have been advised for residents in the Bear Valley Springs area. More than 500 firefighters are working to put out the fire.

Evacuees are advised to seek shelter at Jacobson Middle School at 711 Anita Drive in Tehachapi. Provisions will be provided for pets as well.

Highway 223 is closed from Arvin to Highway 58.
