I’m thrilled to be returning to Kern County, but this time, as a permanent resident! Most of my family is from the area, so you can say I know my way around Dewar’s! I grew up visiting this great city, but was never lucky enough to call Bakersfield home until now.
Originally from the Central Coast, I spent the last four years in Austin, TX. I earned my degree in broadcast journalism and creative writing from the University of Texas at Austin. Now, I’m a proud Texas Ex! Hook ‘em horns!
During my time in the Lone Star State, I worked as a reporter, anchor and producer for Texas Student Television and Texas Newswatch. I also interned for Austin’s NBC-affiliate station, KXAN News and Time Warner Cable’s Spectrum News. I reported on everything from the 2016 Presidential Election to controversial bills proposed in the 85th Texas Legislature. I was on the scene of the fatal Biloxi bus crash and the aftermath of violent floods that ripped through Hays County.
During my summers, I returned to California to pursue my passion for West Coast news. I first dedicated my time to California agriculture, covering topics like San Benito County’s booming carrot industry and crop signs designed to help communities learn what’s growing in their area. I then reported for Action News Now in Chico, covering topics such as wildfires and solar energy. Finally, I interned for ABC News Network in Los Angeles. I reported extensively on the Erskine Fire, UCLA shooting and worked with West Coast affiliate stations daily. I also assisted Good Morning America on the red carpet at the ESPY’s Awards, and even had a chance to help interview Shaquille O’Neal.
I’m so excited and grateful to be serving this wonderful community. I love meeting new people, and hearing the stories that make Kern County so special.
