My name is Mary Paronyan.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from California State University, Northridge, majoring in Broadcast Journalism.
Growing up, I always had a love for watching the news every morning before going to school. I remember at the age of 6, I would get out of the shower and start drying my hair with a blow-dryer and pretend it’s the wind, and my hairbrush was the microphone. From then on, my mom would always tell me that I was going to be a News Reporter.
We all grow up wanting to become someone, someone who will succeed all the way through on whichever path they choose. You must love, in order to do. I discovered this career back in elementary school. In fact, I thought of it more as a hobby. Each morning, I would eat breakfast and my mother would turn on Good Day LA on channel 11. ”I want to be just like them” I would say. Both of my parents supported me at that age and said I would make it if I stick to it.
Attending such great schools and meeting amazing people made a big influence in choosing my career. Attending California State University, Northridge was a wonderful decision. It prepared me for this field, thanks to my amazing professors. I was a part of Valley View News, a college news show we would air weekly.
Today, I work as a Multimedia Journalist for KBAK Eyewitness News in Bakersfield, CA. My love for telling stories, spreading awareness, and meeting individuals from all sorts of backgrounds is what I love most about this job.
